ABOUT ME

My health journey started back in 2002 when mad cow disease was becoming a problem. I decided right there and then that I did not want to get sick, so I immediately stopped eating red meat. I decided I was going to commit myself to study and do research about health and I continually make changes as I expanded my education in the future.

In 2004 my professor presented a documentary in biology class. It was about chickens and how they were being abused causing them to develop diseases and spread those diseases to humans. Not only did I find it to be very cruel, but I also did not want to get sick, so that is when I then decided to stop eating poultry.

In 2015, after years of research, I started to follow the whole food plant-based diet, and that is the diet I have decided to adapt to my lifestyle today.

I am a Biochemist, a Health Scientist, and a Certified Health & Wellness Coach. I work with both professional women and stay at home moms who are struggling with a lifestyle-related chronic illness. I support these women through my signature private coaching program called “Wake Up Energized”. My program helps them to rebuild their energy, reduce symptoms, stress, and overwhelm, and really take back control of their life by improving their health and overall wellbeing.

The way you feel about your health today does not have to be forever.

I know this because I have been there. During my first pregnancy, I gained a lot of weight. My Body Mass Index (BMI) was over 36, and that put me in the obesity category. As a result, I began to suffer from gallbladder attacks. Initially, when they started occurring, I was pregnant, so the doctors thought that the pain I was feeling was due to my pregnancy. But when the pain kept coming back after I gave birth, I knew it had to have been something else.

I went to the Emergency several times bent over in pain, only for the doctor to tell me that it must be just muscle pain. But the pain kept coming back, so I started to take matters into my own hands, and I began to do research. Because of my background in Biochemistry, I love to do scientific research, so this comes naturally to me. I started to record what I ate, how I slept and what positions would give me relief during an attack and based on my research I believed I had gallstones. So, I went to the hospital and requested to have an ultrasound done, and the ultrasound came back positive for gallstone.

The next step suggested to me was for me to have my gallbladder removed, but I am not keen on surgery, and from my research, I found out that the lifetime side effects of having your gallbladder removed can be pretty severe, causing even colon cancer, and a lot of individuals who have had their gallbladder removed still suffer from attacks because the stones are actually in the liver.

So I declined surgery and went back to doing research. I started to eliminate food from my diet in an attempt to identify food triggers that set off the attacks, and I also narrowed my research down to a liver detox, and this worked wonderfully for me. For months I was pain-free and when the pain came back, I would do another liver detox and it would go away for months. Part of my decision to follow a whole food plant-based lifestyle was because it helped me to keep my gallbladder attacks under control along with the liver detox.

Today I have reached a point where I have adopted a holistic approach to my health and lifestyle. This approach has allowed me to keep my gallbladder, and I no longer have any gallbladder attacks. It has also given me the daily energy I need as a mom and a female entrepreneur to care for my family and run my business.

Adopting a holistic approach to your health will not happen overnight but it does not have to be difficult. With the right support, you can do it too, and you no longer need to feel weary, confused, lost and fearful. As a mom and female entrepreneur, I understand what it means to be busy taking care of a family and growing a business. It takes a lot of energy and at times builds up stress. You care about your family, your work, and/or your business because you put so much of your life into these things. But to be able to make your business and personal life thrive you need massive energy.
